Odaiba Kaihin Koen (Odaiba Seaside Park)
The 115 meter high Ferris wheel is a great place to get a seaside view of the city.
And from the top, even better…
And what other place would have a life-size 18 meter tall Gundam RX78 statue?

One of the many narrow little streets full of shops in Tokyo.
Another day, another part of Tokyo to explore…
Meiji Shrine
Meiji Shrine is located in a forest that covers an area of about 175 acres. This area is covered by an evergreen forest that consists of 120,000 trees of 365 different species, which were donated by people from all parts of Japan when the shrine was established. The forest is visited by many as a recreation and relaxation area in the center of Tokyo.
Anyone for sake? Barrels of sake donated to the Meiji Shrine.
The barrels of wine that line the entrance road to Meiji Shrine were gifts to the Emperor from wineries in Bourgogne in France.
Personal prayers left by visitors…
Although the forecast said a high of 16, the typhoon winds that we could sometimes barely walk against stole any warmth that we had from our bodies. So much for getting a chance to wear shorts.
Tokyo Sea Park is unique in the world and pretty impressive. Even with the incredibly cold winds there were lineups for all the rides. The Toy Story Mania attraction wait was 8 hours when we checked on it. Needless to say we didn’t bother getting in line.
Asuka and Kyto in the front of the small coaster at the Little Mermaid area.
We hopped trains and made our way further into Tokyo to meet Asuka’s cousin Kumi. Kyto found more Christmas trees decorated at the station.
Outside at the bottom of Sky Tree…
And the view from the top…Tokyo alight!
Of course while we were up there Kyto had to go to the washroom. I know how to start and stop the music, but I’ll be damned if i could figure out how to flush…
So how tall is it?
Asuka and Kyto in santa’s sleigh at our hotel.
We started our 24 hour travel from Ottawa to Tokyo with a 5 hour stop over in Chicago. After eating a greasy lunch Kyto went and played in the kids area while we killed time.
It was just before this that Kyto started battling a stomach bug. He was sick twice in the airport and once on the plane. Luckily we we didn’t check in his suitcase so we could keep changing him.
We got to our hotel in Tokyo around 11pm. Kyto and I had dinner or breakfast depending on what time zone that we felt our bodies were in.
